The Office of the Commandant, Home Guards, Balasore (Odisha) has officially released the Scheme of Examination for Enrolment of Home Guards under Advertisement No. 133/HGs dated 19.02.2025 and 410/HGs dated 26.05.2025. This recruitment drive is being conducted to fill 197 Home Guard posts in Balasore Police District.
A total of 9627 candidates applied, out of which 327 applications were rejected after scrutiny due to various reasons including double forms. Finally, 9300 candidates have been declared eligible to appear in the written examination.

Odisha Home Guard Physical Efficiency Test 2025 (20 Marks)
The Physical Test is applicable for General Duty candidates.
Physical Test Details – 1 KM Walk
For Male Candidates
08 Minutes – 20 Marks
09 Minutes – 15 Marks
10 Minutes – 10 Marks
For Female Candidates
09 Minutes – 20 Marks
10 Minutes – 15 Marks
11 Minutes – 10 Marks
Candidates appear for the physical test at their own risk. The board will not be responsible for injuries.
Odisha Home Guard Trade / Skill Test 2025 (20 Marks)
Candidates applying under specific trades or skills such as:
- Driving
- Computer Skills
- Cooking
- Masonry
- Carpentry
- Electrician
- Barber
will have to appear for a separate practical or theory test. Marks will be awarded based on skill performance.
Candidates claiming driving skill must produce a valid LMV/MMV/HMV driving licence.
Odisha Home Guard Personal Interview (Viva Test)

The interview assesses the candidate’s personality, responsibility, presentation, and usefulness for police-related duties.
Extra Marks for NOKs of Deceased Home Guards
Legal heirs of Home Guards who died while in service will receive:
Extra 10 Marks
Subject to the production of valid supporting documents.
Odisha Home Guard Medical Examination
Candidates who qualify for all previous stages must undergo a Medical Examination conducted by the Government Medical Board.
Candidates declared unfit by the Medical Officer will be disqualified.
